Reflections of green and the luck of the Irish can be found at the highly maintained public fairways of Tam O'Shanter Golf Course, located just off I-77 in Stark County. Originally opened in 1928, Tam O'Shanter's two very uniquely designed, 18-hole courses, The Dales and The Hills, feature naturally sculpted fairways, products of ice-age glacier movements. The Dales course was created by designer Leonard Macomber and requires long tee shots and a tighter game. On the other side, The Hills course, designed by Merle Paul, is dramatically different as it offers smaller greens requiring precision and accurate putting to score well. Voted best public golf course in Stark County in 2007, 2008 and 2009, Tam O'Shanter has a driving range, colonial-style clubhouse, restaurant and six covered tees for year round practice. The course carries a number of specials, including hotel and golf packages, Tammy Cards for seniors and Free Breakfast Tuesdays.
