Known for having some of the most picturesque par 3s and slickest putting surfaces in the entire state, Sawmill Creek Golf Club in Huron, Ohio boasts luscious beauty, challenging greens and is the only course actually situated on the shores of Lake Erie. This early Tom Fazio designed course is one of two in Ohio and is a masterpiece that is naturally bordered by Sheldon's Marsh on the West, Lake Erie on the North and Sawmill Creek on the East. Sawmill is the fourth course ever designed by Tom with assistance from a known architect, his uncle George Fazio. Golf Digest Magazine has named Tom "Best Modern Day Golf Architect" for a record six times, more than any other modern day golf architect. Sawmill has been praised with 4 stars in its "2008-2009 Places to Play Guide" in Golf Digest and was voted "Best Public Golf Course" by Funcoast Magazine. The course's signature Hole 12 runs 568 yards is a challenging par 5 and was rated one of Ohio's top ten toughest holes by Golf Ohio. Located 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland, 55 minutes from Toledo and minutes from Cedar Point, this course is the centerpiece of a resort that creates a getaway experience for business, play or relaxation. Sawmill Creek offers a lodge with more than 240 rooms, one of the largest convention centers in Ohio, recreational activities, a slip marina with chartered fishing and three different dining locations.
